Holographic staging with an amazing midrange. Great bass texture and impact. Incredibly immersive and endgame for most. Has more sub-bass and treble air than OG doesn't scale as well.

Great vocal centric signature & Imaging a bit safe bass and treble wise
Youtube Video Summary

Yanyin Moonlight sets up as a $649 tri-brid with a sub-bass-focused low end and notably shy mid-bass. Bass quality is smooth and competent with decent texture and dynamics, but quantity is modest and sits a touch in the background—definitely not a basshead tuning. The midrange is the star: extremely well-controlled bass-to-lower-mid separation yields a neutral, natural vocal region that feels forward yet relaxed, thanks to slightly tamer upper mids and a restrained, non-fatiguing treble that still extends with a hint of air.

On technical performance, Moonlight sits roughly alongside Thieaudio Oracle for overall resolution, trailing Moondrop Variations. Stage width is good with respectable depth, but the sense of height/air isn’t as open as Variations. Imaging centers vocals front-and-center with instruments orbiting around; it’s engaging and vocal-forward, though pinpoint separation isn’t as clean as the best in class.

Versus Oracle, Moonlight runs tamer up top with smoother, higher-quality treble, while Oracle delivers more bass quantity and a livelier, more versatile midrange presentation. Against Variations, the Moondrop set dominates sub-bass, treble extension, and air, making female vocals shimmer, but can thin out male vocals; Moonlight is the more well-rounded pick for both genders, favoring a relaxed, vocal-centric listen. In short: choose Moonlight for smooth, centered vocals and easy long sessions; pick Variations for sparkle and rumble, and Oracle for a balanced, lively all-rounder.

Nearly the same as the Kinda Lava with very slight differences in the bass. More subbass at the cost of a tiny bit of midbass. Same great mids and treble. Possibly a tad less thick note weight than KL, but to be honest it's hard to tell the difference between these and the KL. They are both great IEMs. I prefer KL because I find it just slightly more neutral and balanced.

Youtube Video Summary

Letshuoer x HBB’s Kinda Lava retunes the EJ07M toward a neutral-with-tasteful-bass-boost signature, thickening the mid-bass versus the original’s Harman-leaning sub-bass shelf. The midrange sits essentially dead-on neutral with excellent clarity and micro-contrast, while the treble is well-extended yet notably safe for sibilance, occasionally showing a soft, sandy EST texture. Versus the stock EJ07M, this tuning feels more integrated and less “subwoofery,” though overall differences remain subtle.

The headline is the bass quality: firm attack, clean decay and addictive depth—easily among the top tier in the price class—without bleeding into the mids. Technicalities are solid, with decent imaging, but the head-stage runs a bit narrow and the overall tilt can sound slightly dark on airy recordings. Build is light metal with red shells and a handsome screw-top metal case; the stock cable feels basic for the price and the faceplate finish looks less premium than expected.

Fit is comfortable but may need SpinFit CP100 tips or a taller two-pin cable to lock in seal and stability. In comparisons, Sennheiser IE600 hits harder up top with a V-shaped incisiveness and wider sense of space, while Moondrop S8 offers brighter openness and BA-clean mids but less bass body. Kinda Lava threads the middle with balanced tonality, safe/detail-rich treble, and outstanding bass, culminating in a confident 5/5 verdict for listeners prioritizing natural mids and elite low-end over max soundstage.
