Bass-forward single-DD with clear vocals and good stage. Lower ear gain makes the base Hi-End the better balanced choice over the Max for most volumes. Rare combo of heavier bass with clear vocals and a surprisingly open stage for the price. Upper treble is restrained and low-volume listeners may prefer the Max’s extra ear-gain energy.
Youtube Video Summary

The SPA Hi-End and Hi-End Max share a modern V-shaped tuning built around a capable single dynamic driver, but the base Hi-End drops the ear gain to just under ~10 dB—slightly below Harman—which improves balance and separation in the 2–5 kHz region. With less upper presence, bass comes across as a touch deeper and more present while vocals remain clear, yielding a wider-feeling stage and cleaner layering. Shells and accessories differ in finish and price ($149 vs $290), yet the sonic delta centers on that lower ear-gain tilt, which many will find more natural at moderate to higher volumes.

On music, this reads as a bass-heavy single-DD that still preserves vocal clarity and a surprisingly open stage—deceptively technical for the tuning, with commendable resolve, layering, and separation despite modest upper-treble air. Versus sets like Tanchjim Oxygen or DUNU Falcon Ultra/Pro that keep a leaner bass shelf, the Hi-End offers more low-end weight without burying mids, suiting hip-hop, EDM, and pop especially well; low-volume listeners may prefer the Max's extra ear-gain sparkle, but for value and balance the $149 Hi-End is the smarter pick.

Powerful mid-bass and great detail. Bass bleeds into mids, mids feel thick, treble can get hot and fatiguing.
