Good intrument separation/layering, but feels like the music is cut into certain areas in the stage and not harmonious (UPDATE: tip rolling helped, the fit was a little weird like the OG Dark Magician). Resolution is good, but isn't that clear and can be a little bit dark at mid-lower volumes, but the FR highlights guitars/insturments very well. Sub-bass is also good, but mid-bass feels light like the Hexa. Another neutral set like the Hexa but with better sub-bass, less gain, better scaling, although at the cost of darker treble.

Sound is actually pretty great. A well balanced, warm studio tuning with de-emphasised vocals and subdued treble. Treble can be a little wonky in places, but detail is there and it honestly sounds great. Biggest letdown is price. This is built and packaged like a $30 IEM. *MOVES UP TO "BUT I LIKE THIS" WHEN ON SALE FOR $65 OR LESS*

Average Technical & Tuning Grades

Average Tunign Grade

C+
  • Tonality is generally agreeable, though a few bumps remind you of its limits. Certain tracks spotlight its tonal quirks.

Average Technical Grade

C-
  • Details smear quickly, leaving the presentation cramped and low on definition. You'll notice smearing on even moderately layered songs.
Mids C-
It delivers a workable midrange that could benefit from smoother transitions. Timbre isn't quite convincing yet.
Treble E-
Treble is heavily rolled off, muting sparkle and detail. Detail retrieval in highs is nonexistent.
Dynamics D
Volume shifts feel constrained, so build-ups plateau before releasing. Build-ups plateau before resolving.
Soundstage C+
The image breathes a little, spacing instruments laterally while sketching a light sense of distance. Separation improves with cleaner recordings.
Gaming C-
Minimal environmental definition provides only general audio cues. Suitable for games where positioning isn't critical.
